360Flex – Speaker Chat – Michael Labriola
If you haven’t been joining us for the Speaker Chats, you’re missing out on some great stuff! We’ve had two so far, and our third is this week, with Michael Labriola of Digital Primates.
If you missed last week’s chat, you’re in luck, we’re recording them now (Sorry Dan, forgot to hit record on yours). Check out James Polanco, and see how much great knowledge gets dropped in this chats, before this weeks chat. Thursday at 11am MST.
360Flex – The Hotel and group rate!
Normally everyone has to stay at one of the two hotels nearby, and walk or light rail, or drive over.
This time we’re trying something different. We’re going to be staying downtown (near bars that stay open past 8!), at the Downtown San Jose Marriott
There’s an awesome bar on site, and a great restaurant, and it’s right on the VTA line so you can come and go to the conference.
But wait I’m not done :)
The Marriott has agreed to provide a shuttle loop in the morning and evening for an hour each time to shuttle everyone back and forth Monday – Wednesday. Just be outside ready to go, and you’ll be on your way to Ebay Town Hall.
Also, every attendee staying at the Marriott will get free internet in their guest room. Just in case you have to work when you’re not partying with us :)
360Flex – The Sunday Offerings are incredible!
For those of you that know us, you know we like to offer all sorts of hands-on classes the Sunday before 360|Flex, completely free to attendees.
360|Flex San Jose might actually raise the bar :)
For those new to the community, or looking to brush up on their skill we’ve got Adobe Certified Instructor Garth Braithwaite doing a full day Flex 101 – Intro to Flex workshop. If you’re new to Flex, or just want to bone up before the main event, Garth’s session is the one for you. Garth is awesome!
We’ve also got Justin McClean Doing a full day of hands-on connecting Flex to Arduino. Yeah that’s right, take Flex and AIR, out of the computer, off the web, and play with some Hardware! This session is for those looking to do things like Kevin Hoyt will be talking about on Monday (Flex + Fidgets = BEER!). This is new type of training for us, we’ve never done a full day of training around hardware! It’s gonna be awesome.
What else?
Sid Maestre will be doing a half-day workshop on the MATE framework, if you’re curious about MATE, this is the workshop for you. MATE is a great framework, for your Flex apps, you should check it out if none of the other workshops are for you!
We’ve got more to announce, but I don’t want to blow your mind :)
360Flex Next – San Jose March 7-10th, 2010
Yup, that’s right! We’ve selected the date and the place. March 7 to 10, 2010 in San Jose.
Our friends at eBay and Paypal are hosting us again, and it’s gonna rock! We’ll be opening the call for papers shortly, so start thinking up your topic and bring your a-game. You’ll be required to mark your session as “done before” or “new for 360|Flex”. Yup, you better believe that’ll affect your likelihood of being accepted. :)
360Flex Indy – Why do we do it?
360|Flex (and 360|iDev too) are not shows owned by Tom and John. Sure, we’re the organizers and producers, but I’m willing to bet that our customers (attendees, speakers and sponsors) feel like they own them too. And they should. The thing that makes 360|Flex so special is that ownership by the community.
