360Flex 2012 – Space at the hotel is running out.

Sitting on the fence about coming to 360|Flex 2012? That’s fine. Well it’s not, but we know you’ll come around sooner or later, hopefully you do it before we sell out.

This post is a Public Service Announcement.

Rooms at the Denver Marriott South are filling up fast. Whether you’re on the fence or just slow to act, get your hotel room before you buy your ticket to the conference. You can cancel the hotel room up to 24 hours before if you need, but once our room block is full, that’s that. you’ll be paying full price for the hotel or having to drive from another hotel. Oh yeah there’s no other hotels within walking distance, and the nearest is across the freeway. So yeah, missing the room block is a big deal.

Not only does missing the room block mean you don’t get to hang out at the conference parties then just take an elevator your your room, but having to stay elsewhere hurts the conference. We need our room block to fill up. Selling our room block out ensures we get the discounts and things we need from the hotel to ensure 360|Flex can keep going.

Book your hotel room now! Even if you’re gonna wait to get the conference ticket. See you in April

360Flex 2012 More than “Just Flex”

Whether you’re bullish on Flex or not, 360|Flex 2012 is the event you need to be at.

Why? Sponsors like Sencha, Appcelerator and more (we’re signing up new sponsors all that time!).

With Spoon and the Apache Flex project, Flex has a bright and promising future, but maybe you’re interested in other technologies? Maybe things to add to your bag of tricks alongside Flex? Thats where these awesome companies come in. 360|Flex has never been “just” a Flex conference, but now more than ever we’re becoming a developer stack conference. Whether your stack is HTML5 technologies, mobile technologies or flash based technologies it’s more about the stack than a single “tool”

More than ever 360|Flex is an event for developers doing cutting edge, super awesome things. Best of all, regardless of the technology, it’ still very much about the community that exists. As people migrate to and from the Flex community they bring the community with them, spreading what makes our community awesome, to others.

If you haven’t bought your ticket, if you’re sitting on the fence. I wouldn’t do it too long. When it sells out, it sells out, no amount of crying is gonna change our capacity. Just sayin’

Register now! See you in April.

360Flex 2012 – Help The Awesome, Volunteer!

It’s that time again! We’re putting out the call publicly for volunteers!

Part of what makes 360|Flex awesome is that we keep our costs as low as possible in order to have more speakers, and do more cool things for the community. I mean what would rather have, a fancy stage with a couch on it, or more sessions?

Part of keeping out costs low is offering volunteer positions to those who can’t afford to attend the conference.

So what’s in it for us?

Well we need people to assemble goody bags, help record sessions, work and man the registration desk, and generally just help around the conference wherever Nicole or I need ya. Having volunteers also allows us to help the community by offering a chance for those who normally wouldn’t be able to make it to 360|Flex a chance to attend. That’s a big deal for some people where the price of the conference ticket separates attending and not attending.

What’s in it for you?

Well you get a free pass to the conference. We try to make sure volunteers that are helping with session recording, are in the sessions they’d want to sit in on even if they weren’t a volunteer helping record.  You still get into all the parties and fun stuff.

You get to see the gritty underbelly of 360|Flex… ok that’s less of a perk, but still.

How do you get in on this great offer?

It’s easy. just email us and tell us you want to volunteer. Actually we need more than “I want to volunteer” below are the questions we’d want you to answer in that email, so we can select our volunteers.

Questions we need answered in your email

  • Your name
  • Your phone number (Mobile preferred) If selected we commicate largely by sms, it’s fast and easy.
  • Whether you’re local to Denver or not
  • Are you available to help on Saturday?
  • Are you available to help on Sunday?
  • Why should we select you as a volunteer? This is your chance, impress us.

Not so hard right? at least we don’t make you make a video or perform tricks and such.

See you in April!

360Flex 2012 – Adobe in the house

It’s taken a while, but I’ve finally got MOST of the Adobe line up locked in. Check out the schedule and see the types of awesome sessions Adobeans are coming to present. This isn’t a final line up by any stretch. I’m expecting a few more Adobe names to come in shortly, but wanted to share the ones I have now.

I’m updating the sessions detail doc, and the speakers page as well, but wanted to get an updated schedule up for everyone to look at. The exact placement might change as we work out who’s best where, etc, but man I’m excited by the speakers and topics I’ve gotten from Adobe so far.

Tickets are moving pretty fast, remember… last year we sold out the week before… do you want to risk it this year?

360Flex 2012 hands on training for a steal!

If you’ve been to 360|Flex before you know we offer hands-on training the day before the conference (Sunday) at no charge. We’re mixing things up a bit this year. We’re offering a full day of Robotlegs 2 hands-on, plus a full day of FMS 4.5 with Flex apps. Learn how to leverage the power of the Flash Media Server in your apps.

Both of those are free of charge. Just show up on Sunday and grab a seat, the classes are first come first served.

In addition to those two full day classes we’ve got

Mobile development with Flash Builder 4.6” where you’ll learn to build iOS, and android apps in Flex and compile them to their native platforms. This class is only $100 and seating is limited.

We’ve also go the hugely popular (packed room last year) “Arduino Hands On” which is only $145 and includes an awesome Sparkfun inventor kit (A $100 value) for everyone in the class. Seating for this class is also limited.

We decided to offer these classes for a small fee because we wanted to offer a smaller more in depth class that offered a huge benefit to those in the room. By limiting the size we can insure that the instructors aren’t tied up answering questions that slow down the learning. Both of these courses are structured like more traditional hands-on training that you’d normally pay much much more for.

When we decided to try the paid pre-conference training we wanted to make sure to stay true to our roots of not charging too much to attendees, and making it more than just a simple money grab like most conferences. To start we priced the training pretty cheap, which is how we price everything :) and we’re splitting the proceeds from sunday training with the instructors.

Seats are selling pretty quick but there’s still room left. Act fast. Get your 360|Flex 2012 ticket and your hands-on training seat now before both are sold out!
