360Flex – Session – Breaking down your applications with Mate Framework

Laura Arguello will be with us again, talking about Mate, the framework, which I happen to really like. I only played a little bit with it, on a recent project, but it sure felt nice. I’ll admit it, I’m a Cairngorm fan, mainly because it’s clean and clear. Sure sure, it’s a bit bloated and over burdened with structure, yes, but still.

As an architectural framework, Mate Framework helps you break down your application into specialized parts. As applications grow larger, they might benefit from the further division into specialized modules. In this session, Laura will show how to take advantage of special Mate features such as LocalEventMaps to help the development of modular Flex applications. She will also discuss the design patterns that work best with Mate to aid the development of simpler views that delegate some of its functionality, which is most needed when creating larger applications or working in teams.

If you’re looking at easy to implement and powerful frameworks to help your Flex development really take off, take a look. Laura’s an awesome presenter and always get’s great marks on her presentations!

360Flex Indy iPhone Schedule

So we did the google Calendar for folks as a way to consume the schedule in iPhone, and other img_0001devices that can use gCal data.

Thanks to Howard Fore, we now have a pretty kick ass iPhone app.

You can check the schedule, hotel info, our blog (you’re there now in case you weren’t sure) and even register. You won’t need the weather since once in the conference you won’t want to leave ;)

In mobile safari hit up http://m.360flex.com

The app uses our gCal data, which is awesome in and of itself since it didn’t require a DB of session data, or anything like that, Howard just parses the calendar.img_0003

You can browse by day, track and location (that’s not populated yet) and know exactly what’s going on, and where.

We’re really happy to have this app to offer our attendees, and really honored that Howard whipped this bad boy up for us. His next feat is an Obj C app store version, with Phonegap. Can’t wait to see what awesomeness he unleashes!

It’s not too late to register! Space is filling up fast, but if you register you’ll be in the awesome sessions, vs just looking at them on your iPhone :) Register now!

360Flex Support the Charity Code Jam!

You guys rock! That really has to be said at the start of this post. The Flex Developer community is abso-frakkin-lutely awesome.

We announced that there wouldn’t be a Charity Code Jam in Indy because Ali didn’t have the resources to make it happen, Adobe wasn’t supporting the Code Jam this year.

It seemed there’d be no Code Jam, until the Community stepped up.

Blake, Jeff, and Shannon all reached out in various ways.

We’re happy to announce that Webapper has sponsored Ali’s travel expenses so the Code Jam is officially on!

Jeffrey Houser and Blake Eaton have also volunteered some funds to help cover the miscellany

Details to follow, but we wanted everyone to know, that Code Jam is on. If you’ve got a hankerin’ to really rack up some karma points, building an RIA for a charity that might not otherwise be able to afford one, is a good way to do it.

We’ll do a post with more details as soon as we have them.
